The Mighty Nein, the newest animated adventure from the beloved role-playing group, unveiled a new opening credits. It showcases our favorite group of outcasts, outcasts, and rogues fighting hard and taking names, while teasing at several agonizing personal histories for key figures including the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and Travis Willingham's warlock orc, Fjord.

Overall, the opening appears stunning. But I couldn't help feeling that something was missing in the music selection.

The intro uses "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional composition composed by producer and singer Colm McGuinness. This piece originating from the official score of the same name, the second release put out by Critical Role Productions LLC's music division Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a wonderful sentimental choice, and I believe that devotees of the sequel series will love its inclusion.

But for me, The Mighty Nein's intro fails to capture the hype and excitement that was part of the show's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", written by singer-songwriter the artist, was an instant classic for me when it was first revealed in that year, and it improved further when cast member Sam Riegel added lyrics to the tune for the series' animated intro in 2018.

Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as the writer, the song was catchy and fun. Back then, I hadn't seen the follow-up series at that point, but it was so infectious that I kept it on my phone. This track that excites you before you dive into an episode of adventurous fun.

The show's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" doesn't strike the right notes for me. It's a grand composition, but from what I know of this party, I feel that its tone is a little off.

Naturally, Critical Role has stated that the series will have some surprises and differences from the original live sessions. An adjusted mood for its opening seems to be among these.

This animated adventure will be released on the streaming service from Nov. 19. For those eager before that, or wish to prepare to learn about the characters of the second series, the original episodes are accessible on Spotify and the video site.
