The Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Matchup With the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder previously helped the Houston Astros winning the championship in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays reached their maiden championship series after the 1993 season by beating the Seattle Mariners in the final Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.

Trailing 3-1, the star outfielder smashed a three-run homer in the seventh frame, leading the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 victory in the seven-game series. They will now face the defending champions, the team that is the reigning title, in the upcoming World Series.

"I'm just so happy for our team, Toronto, the nation," Springer stated, an integral part of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."

George Springer has now connected for twenty-three post-season home runs, ranking him third all-time trailing only Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of another player on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that spot besides George Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle, despite leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, remain the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a World Series.

Wilson said "there's no question that it's going to sting" following his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but commended their performance this season.

"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we finished on the wrong side of this one," he remarked.

Toronto won the title on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and are set to host the Dodgers in the opener on this Friday.
